Current events have resulted in this astrologer’s being frequently
asked, “What’s happening in the sky, and when will it lighten up?”
Saturn and Pluto have been in a lingering opposition to each other ever
since early September 2001. Various
other planets have triggered this configuration, therefore adding their
own influences to it. The
Saturn-Pluto opposition will finally ease up in May 2003.
During this time, if each conscious person on the path of truth utilizes
the positive potentials inherent in these planets and the constellations
they are currently transiting, we can change from the lower path of primal
instinct to a more effectual path of enlightenment.
The higher potentials of Saturn are self-discipline, maturity, wisdom,
prudence, patience, caution, perseverance, tenacity, circumspection,
consolidation, and preservation. The lower potentials of Saturn are
limitation, delay, obstruction, negativity, impediments, resistance and
contraction.
The higher potentials of Pluto are creation, purification, transformation,
rebirth, regeneration, resurrection, sharing resources, and wise use of
metaphysical powers. The lower potentials of Pluto are intense ruthless
violence, deliberate cruelty, death, forced dominance over others,
destruction, sexual excesses, abuse of occult powers and selfish
exploitation of shared resources.
Pluto’s energies must be wielded with great care, utilizing Saturn’s
caution, wisdom and maturity.
Saturn has been in the sign Gemini during these arduous times.
It has offered lessons in overcoming perceptions of duality which
polarize people, or nations from each other.
Even if one side of ourselves is an adversary against the other
side, as long as we struggle with our “dark” side, it continues to
struggle against the “light”. Perhaps
this is why 3,000 years ago it was written in the I Ching, “The best way
to fight evil is to make energetic progress in the good.”
Gemini governs the mind and the
word. Even the Bible starts
with, “In the beginning was the Word.”
To use words with Saturn’s wisdom is to discipline the mind,
hence adding “mana” to right resolution.
The power of prayer, affirmation and mantra is imperative.
Pluto
has been in the sign Sagittarius, governing religion, philosophy,
long-distance travel and courts. The
“holy wars”, wherein opponents assert that their religion is the only
valid path, are expressions of this transit.
Perhaps a more civilized and evolved expression is for all to
respect all others, and to consecrate intent to the Highest Good of all
beings, making collective benefit a priority.
With self-effort, this Saturn-Pluto opposition can yield
transformed minds and spirits into a much higher and wiser level.
